The Anti-Drug Cell of Erode College of Law is established with the primary objective of promoting a healthy, drug-free, and responsible campus environment. The Cell is committed to preventing substance abuse among students by fostering awareness, encouraging healthy lifestyles, and creating an atmosphere that supports the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of every member of the academic community.
The Anti-Drug Cell functions in accordance with the guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Government of Tamil Nadu, and other competent statutory authorities. The Cell is dedicated to cultivating a culture of responsibility, discipline, and informed decision-making by educating students about the harmful effects of drug and substance abuse and by encouraging active participation in preventive initiatives.
The Anti-Drug Cell comprises the Principal, faculty members, administrative staff, student representatives, and other nominated members who work collectively to implement awareness programmes, preventive measures, and institutional policies aimed at ensuring a drug-free campus. The Cell also collaborates with healthcare professionals, law enforcement agencies, and other relevant organisations to strengthen awareness and prevention efforts.
OBJECTIVES

To promote a drug-free, healthy, and safe campus environment.

To create awareness among students regarding the harmful effects of drug abuse, alcohol consumption, and other addictive substances.

To educate students about the legal consequences associated with the possession, use, and trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

To encourage healthy lifestyle choices and positive behavioural practices among students.

To provide guidance, counselling, and support to students affected by substance abuse and facilitate referral to appropriate professional services whenever necessary.

To foster a culture of responsibility, self-discipline, and mutual support within the institution.
FUNCTIONS OF THE COMMITTEE

To organise awareness programmes, seminars, workshops, rallies, and campaigns on drug abuse prevention and mental well-being.

To conduct orientation programmes for students on the adverse physical, psychological, social, and legal consequences of substance abuse.

To disseminate information on government initiatives, institutional policies, and legal provisions relating to drug prevention.

To monitor and promote compliance with institutional policies aimed at maintaining a drug-free campus.

To coordinate with healthcare professionals, counsellors, law enforcement agencies, and government departments for awareness and preventive activities.

To encourage students to report incidents relating to drug abuse or illegal substances while ensuring confidentiality and appropriate institutional support.

To periodically review the effectiveness of awareness programmes and recommend measures to strengthen preventive initiatives within the institution.
