Manovah Jayanth is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Erode College of Law, with an academic background in Sociology and an interdisciplinary interest in the relationship between society, law, and social justice. He holds an M.A. in Sociology from Loyola College, Chennai, and has qualified the UGC-NET.

His areas of academic interest include Migration, Refugee and Statelessness, Environmental Sociology, and Political Sociology. His research interests primarily focus on Migration and Intersectionality, particularly examining how social identities, structural inequalities, displacement, citizenship, and access to rights shape the experiences of marginalized communities.

Working in a law institution, his academic interests also extend to the sociological dimensions of law and legal institutions, including the relationship between law and society, human rights, social justice, citizenship, migration and displacement, and the role of legal frameworks in addressing social inequalities. He is particularly interested in exploring how law interacts with social structures, political processes, and diverse forms of identity and marginalization.

Prior to his present position, he served as an Assistant Professor of Sociology and Coordinator of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) at his previous institution, where he was involved in coordinating community-oriented initiatives and strengthening institutional engagement with rural communities.

Through his teaching and research, he seeks to encourage critical sociological thinking and an interdisciplinary understanding of law and society, while enabling students to connect legal concepts with broader social, political, and environmental realities.
