Erode College of Law proudly announces the Second Edition of In Verba Legis II: National Drafting Championship 2026, an online national-level legal drafting competition organised by its Research and Drafting Committee. This year’s championship centres on the theme “Penning a Dignified Tomorrow: Transgender Justice & India’s Development.”
The competition recognises legal drafting as more than a technical skill—it is the art of transforming legal principles into precise, meaningful and enforceable instruments of justice. Participants are invited to draft Public Interest Litigations (PILs) addressing contemporary concerns surrounding transgender justice in India, with particular focus on legal frameworks, health and well-being, religious and cultural perspectives, and social justice and development.
Open to students pursuing three-year or five-year LL.B. programmes in BCI-recognised universities, the competition allows individual participation or teams of two. Participants will be assessed on legal analysis, research, clarity and organisation, writing style, and formatting and citation, making the championship a comprehensive test of legal scholarship and drafting ability.
The competition offers ₹5,000, ₹3,000 and ₹2,000 for the first, second and third positions respectively. All registered participants will receive e-certificates, while selected drafts will have an opportunity for free publication in the Sai Sindhu International Journal of Research.
With registration beginning on 12 August 2026 and submissions due by 7 September 2026, In Verba Legis II invites aspiring lawyers to research deeply, draft precisely and engage meaningfully with the pursuit of equality and dignity.
