MYSTICA 2026: Bridging Law, Forensics and the Pursuit of Justice
Erode College of Law hosted MYSTICA 2026, a National Level Inter-College Crime Scene Investigation Workshop and Competition, creating a unique platform for students to explore the practical dimensions of criminal investigation, forensic science, cybercrime and medico-legal practice.
The programme brought together expert-led learning and practical investigation, giving students an opportunity to move beyond theoretical knowledge and understand how law, science and technology work together in the pursuit of justice.
The Workshop: Beginning with Knowledge
The academic journey of MYSTICA 2026 began with a one-day workshop on 13 March 2026, featuring four specialised technical sessions. Each session examined a different aspect of modern criminal investigation and provided students with valuable insights from experts in the field.

Understanding Scene of Crime & Crime Scene Investigation
Dr. A. Vijayalakshmi, Associate Professor & Head I/c, Department of Crime & Forensics Law, The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University (TNDALU), conducted an engaging technical session on “Understanding Scene of Crime & Crime Scene Investigation.”
Her practical insights and discussion on forensic analysis helped students understand the importance of systematic observation and careful examination of a crime scene. The session demonstrated how every detail at a crime scene can potentially contribute to reconstructing events and supporting the investigative process.
Modern Forensic Techniques and Evidentiary Value
Dr. Nandakumar S delivered an insightful session on “Modern Forensic Techniques and Evidentiary Value.”
The session explored how modern scientific techniques have strengthened criminal investigation and highlighted the importance of properly collecting, preserving and presenting forensic evidence. Students gained an understanding of how scientific findings acquire evidentiary value when handled in accordance with appropriate procedural standards and presented before a court of law.
Bridging Theory and Practice: Crime Scene Tactics in Cyber Crimes
The rapidly evolving nature of digital crime was addressed by Dr. C. E. Prathap through his session on “Crime Scene Tactics in Cyber Crimes.”
The session connected legal principles with the practical challenges of investigating cyber offences. Students were introduced to sophisticated methods such as encryption and steganography, which can be used to conceal digital information.
The session provided a practical perspective on identifying, handling and interpreting digital evidence and highlighted the growing importance of technological knowledge in contemporary legal practice.
Exploring Medico-Legal Intricacies with Clarity
The fourth session brought the intersection of medical science and law into focus. Dr. Shankar delivered a detailed and thought-provoking session on “Exploring Medico-Legal Intricacies with Clarity.”
The session explored important aspects of forensic medicine, including the interpretation of medical evidence, post-mortem and injury reports, and the role of expert medical testimony in criminal proceedings.
Students gained a deeper understanding of how medical findings can assist the legal system in establishing facts and arriving at informed judicial conclusions.
From Learning to Investigation
With the foundation laid through these four expert sessions, MYSTICA 2026 moved from theory to practice through its National Level Inter-College Crime Scene Investigation Competition.
The competition allowed participating teams to apply their knowledge in a practical investigative setting. Students were encouraged to demonstrate observation, logical reasoning, teamwork, analytical ability and evidence-based thinking.
The transition from classroom learning to practical investigation made the competition an especially meaningful part of MYSTICA 2026. Students were not merely learning about crime scene investigation; they were challenged to think, analyse and respond like investigators.
The Valedictory Ceremony
The programme culminated in a memorable Valedictory Ceremony, bringing together the participants, organisers, faculty members and distinguished guests to celebrate the successful completion of MYSTICA 2026.
The ceremony was graced by Krishnan Priya K ML, Hon’ble Chief Judicial Magistrate, Erode, whose presence added great significance to the occasion.
The valedictory ceremony provided an opportunity to reflect upon the knowledge gained, practical experiences shared, and achievements accomplished throughout the programme.

More Than a Competition
MYSTICA 2026 was more than an inter-college competition. It was a learning experience that brought law, forensic science, technology and practical investigation together.
Beginning with four expert-led technical sessions, the programme moved naturally from knowledge to application, allowing students to understand the realities of criminal investigation and then put their learning into practice.
The achievements of Team ZENITH, Team VERITAS, Team UPRISE, Team ORACLE and Team ENIGMA added a fitting conclusion to the programme, celebrating not only competitive success but also the students' ability to apply knowledge with precision and confidence.
A Journey from the Classroom to the Crime Scene
MYSTICA 2026 demonstrated the value of experiential legal education. From forensic evidence and cybercrime to crime-scene investigation and medico-legal evidence, the programme showed students that modern criminal justice is inherently multidisciplinary.
It was a journey from the classroom to the crime scene, from theory to practice, and from learning to application.
